This is an 11 day practical and theoretical course, in yacht seamanship and navigation. The course follows exactly the same ‘ground’ as the Coastal Master but to a greater depth. (The practical skills taught and examined are of a higher standard). The Yacht Master course is aimed at students who have at minimum, completed an IYT Bareboat Captain course and have sufficient experience and mileage to qualify.
Persons wishing to attend this course should first take the IYT pre course self test which is designed to ensure that a prospective student has the necessary knowledge to engage on a Yacht Master course. Experience and boat handling skills can be tested if required by the 1 day assessment course.
A student participating on this course will be examined on the final day of the course and if successful will be awarded the IYT Yacht Master certificate.
It is recommended that students wishing to attend this course be experienced to IYT Bareboat Captain, IYT Coastal Master or RYA Day Skipper, RYA Coastal Master standard. IYT courses are unique in that, theory and practice are seamlessly interwoven and as a consequence students learning is vastly improved. Sail in Asia’s base is 50 metres from our yachts, situated in an extraordinarily beautiful bay, with our shorebased classroom, overlooking the beach. Within 5 minutes we can be out of the classroom and onto the boats. These perfect learning conditions are what makes training with Sail in Asia so special.
