Bareboat Captain Course The Bareboat Captain Course, 5 days, (Including IYT Modules 14-17). This course is for people who wish to take safe command of their own motor yacht with confidence and for those who may wish to charter and be in charge of a yacht. The course is aimed at honing the command skills of the skipper and ensuring that they are fully conversant with the required nautical theory and have the boat handling skills to be in charge of a yacht. SIA looks hard at what makes a good skipper and will focus training on developing command skills. Students successfully completing this course will be eligible for the issue of an IYT International Bareboat Captain / Skipper Certificate Nb. The IYT accepts prior learning and experience gained from other recognised yachting establishments and SIA follows in this regard. However, students should note that a pre-requisite for this course is the prior completion of at least a 200 Nautical Mile voyage and/or 10 days of on board a motor yacht. |
